Ajmer was established by a Shakabari Chahmana in the 12th century A.D.  It is surrounded by Aravalli mountains; it is a pilgrimage centre of all religions who come here to get their wishes fulfilled from the Ajmer Sharif and Puskar  which is  visited as an animal fair and believed to be visited by Gods. It was originally called Ajayamer.

THINGS TO DO

AJMER SHARIF :  The Dargah of Moinuddin Chisti; a Sufi of the Chisti Silsilah; it is situated on the foot of the Taragarh foothills and surrounded by foothills. It was also visited by Emperor Akbar on foot from Agra whenever he had problems in his life or his wishes remain unfulfilled. The Sufi Khanqah was supposed to bless the emperor.

Pushkar fair

Pushkar fair also called the camel fair is held in the Kartik month in Rajasthan. The Pushkar fair is visited by 2,000,000 visitors. Themes of the fair include dances and events like the Matka for and games like the tug of war.  Trading of livestock also takes place. People visit the fair and  take a dip into the Pushkar  lake and feel closer to the Gods who have made it their abode.

ADAI DIN Ka Jhompra

Adai din Ka Jhompra in the city of Ajmer  commissioned by  Qutub Din Aibak under the orders of Muhammad Ghori.  The site is built in a Saffavid style which has the true arch and minarets. The central mihrab of the mosque contains a inscription as to when it was built. It was one of the oldest mosque in India constructed in 595 AD. It was originally a Sanskrit college of which inscriptions of the mosque speak of certain plays being performed such as Harkeli Nataka.
