Merta- The paradise of the princess poet

#Welcome to Merta, the last chapter of the posts on Rajasthan. Let me take you to the land of the brave Rathore warriors and the poetess Mirabai. It is an ancient city known as Medantak. This city is famous for the Charbuja temple located in the city. This city was destroyed by the Battle of Merta in 1527. Meerabai who belonged to Merta’s royal family was married to Chittaurgarh’s prince Bhojraj at the age of 16 but she never honoured the marriage. She used to sing bhajans in praise in the praise of Lord Krishna in the company of sages.
