NAINITAL- The Lake city of Uttarakand

Nainital is a popular lake city in the state of Uttaranchal. It is at an height of 2,084 metres above sea level. It is set in a valley containing a mango shaped lake. It is surrounded by mountains; Naina, Deopatha and Ayarpatha. The hill station of Nainital was founded in 1841 by the construction of the first European house; the Pilgrim lodge by P.Barron a sugar trader. In the latter half of the 19th century; a number of British schools were founded for girls and boys in Nainital.
Places to visit
Historical records confirm that this lake was seen by P. Baron in 1839 and he was so captivated by it that he built a colony here. Walnut, Pipal, Musk Rose and other botanical plants grow in this space.
Dorothy Seat is a high mountain top in the Uttaranchal hilsides is a popular picnic spot with really scenic views. This spot was built by Colonel J. P Kellet in memory of his wife Dorothy .
This is the house of popular conservationist Jim Corbett who built the National park for the conservation of tigers. It is located in Nainital and was built in 1881.
